IOSH WORKING SAFELY
IOSH ‘Working Safely’ is a nationally recognised qualification and can only be provided by licensed training centres & IOSH registered tutors.
Course Objectives
To provide candidates with the knowledge and skills to ensure that their actions contribute to health and safety in the workplace and that their individual responsibilities are clearly understood.
Course Content
● Defining safe working, identifying hazards and risks, selecting and seeking advice on workplace precautions and assisting managers to prepare risk assessments
● Workplace precautions for sources of hazards, fire, manual handling, electricity, display screen equipment, chemicals and substances, work equipment, movement of people, poor housekeeping and noise
● Improving the organisations safety performance, including reporting relevant accidents and incidents, monitoring work activities, commenting on health and safety policy
● Complying with requirements for control in safety management, cooperating with managers in safety activities, communicating on safety matters andidentifying competencies required for safe working
Who should attend - Any employee.
Assessment - Candidates will complete a multiple-choice examination and a written question paper at the end of the course.
An IOSH Certificate of Training will be awarded to each successful candidate.

IOSH MANAGING SAFELY
IOSH ‘Managing Safely’ is a nationally recognised qualification and can only be provided by licensed training centres & IOSH registered tutors.
Course Objectives
To provide candidates with a thorough understanding of safety issues at management level.
Course Content
The course equips candidates with the knowledge and skills required to:
● Apply effective management practices to health and safety issues
● Set practicable objectives and monitor progress
● Recognise hazards and identify control measures
● Understand behavioural factors affecting performance
● Ensure that adequate training and supervision is provided for all employees
● Investigate incidents and take appropriate remedial action
● Communicate effectively on health and safety issues
● Understand legal responsibilities and how to comply
Who should attend - Any Manager, Supervisor or Employee required to manage safely and effectively in order to comply with statutory requirements, organisational policy and industry best practice.
Assessment - Candidates will complete a multiple-choice examination and a work related project at the end of the course.
An IOSH Certificate of Training will be awarded to each successful candidate.

IOSH DIRECTING SAFELY
IOSH ‘Directing Safely’ is a nationally recognised qualification and can only be provided by licensed training centres & IOSH registered tutors.
Course Objectives
To provide directors/owners of small to medium enterprises with an understanding of moral and legal considerations and the business case for proactive health and safety management and to give guidance on the effective management of risk.
The course reflects the principals embodied in:
● HSE’s successful Health & Safety Management (HSG65)
● The Turnbull Report
● The DETR/HSC’s ‘Revitalising Health & Safety’ strategy statement.
Course Content
The course equips candidates with the knowledge and skills required to:
● Understand the importance of strategic health and safety management and its integration into other business management systems
● Identify accident causes and plan for prevention through risk assessment and control strategies
● Appreciate the consequences of failing to manage health and safety effectively
● Understand the importance of consultation and communication with employees on health and safety issues
● Appreciate the significance of performance monitoring for continual improvement of health and safety management
Who should attend - Any person with strategic responsibility for determining and implementing effective health and safety management within an organisation of up to 250 employees.
Assessment - Candidates will complete a multiple-choice examination and a project at the end of the course.

IOSH SAFETY, HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT FOR CONSTRUCTION WORKERS
Normandie Health & Safety Limited are licensed providers of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health course ‘Safety, Health and Environment for Construction Workers’. The following course has been approved by CITB and Build UK.
Course Objectives:
This course provides candidates essential knowledge for anyone who is involved in construction activities and is suitable for any organisation big or small. Candidates will be able to use the knowledge gained in their day to day roles.
Course Content:
· Health and safety issues to be managed in the construction industry to protect employees, contractors, neighbours and others.
· The basics of local law.
· The importance of risk assessments and method statements and the development process.
· Site requirements for the welfare of construction workers on site.
· Hazards and controls associated with construction sites and activities including working at height and confined spaces.
· Site environmental management including management of waste and ecology.
Who should attend:
The course is designed for anyone who is working on or around a construction site or has the cause to visit the site in the course of their work.
Assessment:
The course will be run locally at Normandie House by a registered IOSH tutor. At the end of the course there is a multiple choice paper and written exam papers. Successful candidates will be awarded a certificate from the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) - a recognised qualification in health and safety.
